First Reading
ACTS 4:8-12
PETER's Testimony

8 Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, addressed them, 'Rulers of the people, and elders!
9 If you are questioning us today about an act of kindness to a cripple and asking us how he was healed,
10 you must know, all of you, and the whole people of Israel, that it is by the name of Jesus Christ the Nazarene, whom you crucified, and God raised from the dead, by this name and by no other that this man stands before you cured.  11 This is the stone which you, the builders, rejected but which has become the cornerstone. Only in him is there salvation;  12 for of all the names in the world given to men, this is the only one by which we can be saved.'

"The Word of the Lord"

PSALM 118:1, 8-9, 21-23, 26, 28-29
Praise to God for His Everlasting Mercy

1 Alleluia! Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, for his faithful love endures for ever.  8 It is better to take refuge in Yahweh than to rely on human beings;
9 better to take refuge in Yahweh than to rely on princes.  21 I thank you for hearing me, and making yourself my Saviour.
22 The stone which the builders rejected has become the cornerstone;  23 This is Yahweh's doing, and we marvel at it.  26 Blessed in the name of Yahweh is he who is coming! We bless you from the house of Yahweh.  28 You are my God, I thank you, all praise to you, my God. I thank you for hearing me, and making yourself my Saviour.  29 Give thanks to Yahweh for he is good, for his faithful love endures for ever.

Second Reading
1 JOHN 3:1-2
God's children

1 You must see what great love the Father has lavished on us by letting us be called God's children -- which is what we are! The reason why the world does not acknowledge us is that it did not acknowledge him.
2 My dear friends, we are already God's children, but what we shall be in the future has not yet been revealed. We are well aware that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he really is.

Gospel Reading
JOHN 10:11-18
The Good Shepherd

11 I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd lays down his life for his sheep.
12 The hired man, since he is not the shepherd and the sheep do not belong to him, abandons the sheep as soon as he sees a wolf coming, and runs away, and then the wolf attacks and scatters the sheep;  13 he runs away because he is only a hired man and has no concern for the sheep.  14 I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me,  15 just as the Father knows me and I know the Father; and I lay down my life for my sheep.  16 And there are other sheep I have that are not of this fold, and I must lead these too. They too will listen to my voice, and there will be only one flock, one shepherd.  17 The Father loves me, because I lay down my life in order to take it up again.  18 No one takes it from me; I lay it down of my own free will, and as I have power to lay it down, so I have power to take it up again; and this is the command I have received from my Father.

ACTS 3:13-15, 17-19
PETER'S sermon

The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let Him go.  But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you, and killed the Price of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.  Yet now, brethren, I know that you did it in ignorance, as did also your rulers.  But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.  Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord.

"The Word of the Lord"

PSALMS 4:2, 4, 7-9
The Safety of the Faithful

Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness!  You have relieved me in my distress; have mercy on me, and hear my prayer.  But know that the LORD has set apart for Himself him who is godly; the LORD will hear when I call to Him.  There are many who say, "Who will show us any good?"  LORD, lift up the light of Your countenance upon us.  You have put gladness in my heart, more than in the season that their grain and wine increased.  I will both lie down in peace, and sleep; for You alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Second Reading
1 JOHN 2:1-5
Jesus intercedes for us

My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin.  And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.  And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for our only but also for the whole world. Now by this we know that we know Him, if we keep His commandments.  He who says, "I know Him," and does not keep His commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him.  But whoever keeps His word, truly the love of God is perfected in him.  By this we know that we are in Him.

"The Word of the Lord"

Gospel Reading
LUKE 24:35-48
The risen Jesus is real

And they told about the things that had happened on the road, and how He was know to them in the breaking of bread.  Now as they said these things, Jesus Himself stood in the midst of them, and said to them, "Peace to you."  But they were terrified and frightened, and supposed they had seen a spirit.  And He said to them, "Why are you troubled?  And why do doubts arise in your hearts?  "Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself.  Handle Me and see, for a spirit does not have flesh and bones as you see I have."  When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His feet.  But while they still did not believe for joy, and marveled, He said to them, "Have you any food here?  So they gave Him a piece of a broiled fish and some honeycomb.  And He took it and ate in their presence.  Then He said to them, "These are the words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms concerning Me."  And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.  Then He said to them, "Thus it is written, and thus it was necessary for the Christ to suffer and to rise from the dead the third day, and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  And you are witnesses of these things.

First Reading
ACTS 4:32-35
United, heart and soul

Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.  And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.  And great grace was upon them all.  Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold, and laid them at the apostles' feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.

"The Word of the Lord"

PSALM 118:2-4, 15-18, 22-24
Praise to God for His Everlasting Mercy

Let Israel now say, "His mercy endures forever."  Let the house of Aaron now say, "His mercy endures forever."  Let those who fear the LORD now say, "His mercy endures forever."  The voice of rejoicing and salvation is is the tents of the righteous; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.  The right hand of the LORD is exalted; the right hand of the LORD does valiantly.  I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD.  The LORD has chastened me severely, but He has not given me over to death.  The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.  This was the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.  This is the day the LORD has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

Second Reading
1 JOHN 5:1-6
Those who believe are born of God

Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born of God, and everyone who loves Him who begot also loves him who is begotten of Him.  By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and keep His commandments.  For this is the love of God, that we keep His commandments.  And His commandments are not burdensome.  For whatever is born of God overcomes the world.  And this is the victory that has overcome the world - our faith.  Who is he who overcomes the world, but he who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?  This is He who came by water and blood - Jesus Christ; not only by water, but by water and blood.  And it is the Spirit who bears witness, because the Spirit is truth.

"The Word of the Lord"

Gospel Reading
JOHN 20:19-31
Jesus came and stood in their midst

Then, the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, when the doors were shut where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and said to them, "Peace be with you."  When He had said this, He showed them His hands and His side.  Then the disciples were glad when they saw the Lord.  So Jesus said to them again, "Peace to you!  As the Father has sent Me, I also send you."  And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and said to them, "Receive the Holy Spirit.  "If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven them; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained."  Now Thomas, called the Twin, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came.  The other disciples therefore said to hi, "We have seen the Lord."  So he said to them, "Unless I see in His hands the print of the nails, and put my finger into the print of the nails, and put mya hand into His side, I will not believe."  And after eight days His disciples were again inside, and Thomas with them.  Jesus came, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst, and said, "Peace to you!"  Then He said to Thomas, "Reach your finger here, and look at My hands; and reach your hand here, and put it into My side.  Do not be unbelieving, but believing."  And Thomas answered and said to Him, "My Lord and my God!"  Jesus said to him, "Thomas, because you have seen Me, you have believed.  Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed."  And truly Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples, which are not written in this book; but these are written that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing you may have life in His name.

ACTS 10:34, 37-43
Peter's testimony
Then Peter opened his mouth and said: "In truth I perceive that God shos no partiality."  That word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilea after the baptism which John preached: "how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing goodand healing all who were oppressed by the deveil, for God was with Him.  And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.  Him God rasied up on the third day, and showed Him openly, not to all the people, but to witnesses chose before by God, even to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.  And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God to be Judge of the living and the dead.  To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.

Praise to God for His Everlasting Mercy

Let Israel now say, "His mercy endures forever."  Let the house of Aaron now say, "His mercy endures forever."  The LORD is on my side; I will not fear.  What can man do to me?  The LORD is for me among those who help me; therefore I shall see my desire on those who hate me.  The stone which the builders rejected has become the chief cornerstone.  This was the LORD's doing; it is marvelous in our eyes.

COLOSSIANS 3:1-4
Life with Christ

If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God.  Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth.  For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.  When Christ who is our life appears, then you also will appear with Him in glory.

Gospel Reading
JOHN 20:1-9
He had to rise from the dead.

Now the first day of the week Mary Magdalene went to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb.  Then she ran and came to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple, whom Jeus loved, and said to them, "They have taken away the LORD out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid Him."  Peter therefore went out, and the other disciple, and were going to the tomb.  So they both ran together, and the other disciple outran Peter and came to the tomb first.  And he, stooping down and looking in, saw the linen cloths lying there; yet he did not go in.  Then Simon Peter came, following hi, and went into the tomb; and he saw the linen cloths lying there, and the handkerchief that had been around His head, not lying with the linen cloths, but folded together in a place by itself.  Then the other disciple, who came to the tomb first, went in also; and he saw and believed.  For as yet they did not know the Scripture, that He must rise again from the dead.

ISAIAH 52:13, 53:12

Behold, My Servant shall deal prudently; He shall be exalted and extolled and be very high.  Therefore, I will divide Him a portion with the great, and He shall divide the spoil with the strong, because He poured out His soul unto death, and He was numbered with the transgressors, and He bore the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.

PSALMS 31:2, 6, 12-13, 15-17, 25
The LORD a Fortress in Adversity

In You, O LORD, I put my trust; let me never be ashamed; deliver me in Your righteousness.  Into Your hand I commit my spirit; You have redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.  I am a reproach among all my enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and am repulsive to my acquaintances; those who see me outside flee from me.  I am forgotten like a dead man, out of mind;  I am like a broken vessel.  But as for me, I trust in You, O LORD; I say, "You are my God."  My times are in Your hand; deliver me from the hand of my enemies, and from those who persecute me.  Make Your face shine upon Your servant; Save me for Your mercies' sake.  Be of good courage, and He shall strengthen your heart, all you who hope in the LORD.

HEBREWS 4:14-15 & 5:7-9

Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession.  For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin.  Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.  Who, in the days of His flesh, when He had offered up prayers and supplications, with vehement cries and tears to Him who was able to save Him from death, and was heard because of His godly fear, though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered.  An having been perfected, He became the author of eternal salvation to all who obey Him.

Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron in the land of Egypt, saying, "This month shall be your beginning of months; it shall be the first month of the year to you.  "Speak to all the congregation of Israel, saying: 'On the tenth of this month every man shall take for himself a lamb, according to the house of his father, a lamb for a household.  'And if the household is too small for the lamb, let him and his neighbor next to his house take it according to the number of the persons; according to each man's need you shall make your count for the lamb.  'Your lamb shall be without blemish, a male of the first year.  You may take it from the sheep or from the goats.  Now you shall keep it until the fourteenth day of the same month.  Then the whole assembly of the congregation of Israel shall kill it at twilight.  And they shall take some of the blood and put it on the two doorposts and on the lintel of the houses where they eat it.  Then they shall eat the flesh on that night; roasted in fire, with unleavened bread and with bitter herbs they shall eat it.  And thus you shall eat it: with a belt on your waist, your sandals on your feet, and your staff in your hand.  So you shall eat it in haste.  It is the LORD's Passover.  For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment:  I am the LORD.  Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are.  And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.  So this day shall be to you a memorial; and you shall keep it as a feast to the LORD throughout your generations.  You shall keep it as a feast by an everlasting ordinance.

"The Word of the Lord"

PSALM 115:12-13, 15-18
The Futility of the Idols and
the Trustworthiness of the God

The LORD has been mindful of us; He will bless us; He will bless the house of Israel; He will bless the house of Aaron.  He will bless those who fear the LORD, both small and great.  May you be blessed by the LORD, Who made heaven and earth.  The heaven, even the heavens, are the LORD's ; but the earth He has given to the children of men.  The dead do not praise the LORD, nor any who go down into silence.  But we will bless the LORD from this time forth and forevermore.  Praise the LORD!

Institution of the Lord's Supper

For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, "Take, eat, this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."  In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood.  This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me." For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.

JOHN 13:1-15
Jesus Washes the Disciples' Feet

Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.  And supper being ended, the deveil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray Him, Jesus, knowing that the Father has given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside his garments, took a towel and girded Himself.  After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.  Then He came to Simon Peter.  And Peter said to Hi, "Lord, are You washing my feet?"  Jesus answered and said to him, "What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this."  Peter said to Him, "You shall never wash my feet!"  Jesus answered him, "If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me."  Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!"  Jesus said to him, "He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you."  For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, "You are not all clean."  So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, "Do you know what I have done to you?  You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am."  If I the, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another's feet.  For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.
